Resin Driveway Maintenance: How to Keep It Looking New
One of the best things about a resin bound driveway is how little maintenance it needs. But a small amount of regular care will keep it looking its best for decades. Here's your complete maintenance guide.
Regular Cleaning
Sweep your driveway periodically to remove leaves and debris. An annual power wash at low pressure removes algae, dirt, and grime. Avoid using harsh chemicals or very high pressure, which can damage the resin bond.
Weed Prevention
Weeds rarely grow through a properly installed resin bound surface. However, they can appear at edges or where organic matter accumulates. Apply a suitable weed killer to edges annually and keep the surface clear of soil and leaf buildup.
Stain Removal
Oil and fuel spills should be treated as soon as possible. Blot up the excess and clean with warm soapy water. For stubborn stains, specialist driveway cleaning products are available. Avoid solvents that could damage the resin binder.
Seasonal Care
- Spring: Power wash at low pressure to remove winter grime and algae
- Summer: Check for any UV discolouration (only a concern with non-UV-stable resin)
- Autumn: Keep leaves clear to prevent organic staining and pore blockage
- Winter: Avoid using rock salt for de-icing — use sand or non-salt de-icer instead
